As a Senior Engineer at lector.ai, no problem is too hard for you. We have transitioned our development processes to modern, agent-driven AI engineering. Our core software processes at least 50 million pages a year in production. At the same time, we deliver tailor-made integration projects directly for our clients—meaning your code will have a massive real-world impact from day one.

We aren't looking for someone who blindly "vibecodes" or just types syntax. We are looking for a seasoned builder, systems architect, and communicator. You use state-of-the-art AI tools as a digital exoskeleton to build complex, highly available solutions in record time, while also being able to design these solutions collaboratively with our clients.

Your Responsibilities:

• Architect & Build: You make complex architectural decisions and develop our core document processing solutions—from rapid prototypes to highly scalable microservices.

• Client Projects & Requirement Engineering: You work directly with our clients. You analyze problems, lead workshops, define requirements, and translate them into functional technical architectures.

• Agentic Engineering: You orchestrate and delegate tasks to coding agents and leverage state-of-the-art AI IDEs (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code) to massively scale your output and advance our platform.

• Production, Deployment & Testing: You safely bring automated document processing systems (which leverage modern LLMs among other things) into production. You design deployments (Docker, GitHub Workflows) and own quality assurance through rigorous end-to-end testing.

• End-to-End Ownership: From the initial client idea to the final rollout, you take full responsibility, monitor production operations, and iterate at breakneck speed.

• Proven Engineering Experience: You bring solid, multi-year professional experience in software engineering. You have a proven track record of successfully building complex, scalable software systems and safely deploying business-critical applications into production.

• Communication & Consulting: You don't shy away from client contact, can clearly explain technical complexity during workshops, and speak fluent German (at least C1 level).

• Builder Mindset: You are not afraid to get your hands dirty, step into unknown territory, and just build things. You are a problem solver through and through.

• Polyglot & Pragmatic: We typically use Python and TypeScript, but also selectively rely on Rust. What matters most is your ability to quickly wrap your head around unfamiliar code.

• DevOps Foundation: You have a deep understanding of containerization (Docker), microservices, and modern deployment processes.

• AI Tooling Mastery: You are a prompting pro and know exactly how to effectively leverage and steer coding tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code), while rigorously verifying their output for quality and security.
